2002
Directed by Gus Van Sant
Starring Matt Damon and Casey Affleck

Gerry is a defiantly boring movie. Two unprepared, ill-informed doofuses go wandering through the desert and get lost in the sparse, monotonous landscape. They walk around, become increasingly discombobulated, and then walk around some more. And some more. Completely minimalist, there's little dialogue, even less character development, and an unmistakable void of entertainment. With long, uneventful shots, the permeating sentiment seems to be, "Being lost in the desert is dull and grueling." Such precious insight, Gus. Sure, it looks nice, but the cinematography only goes so far. It's almost impressively lifeless and I just don't have the patience. Absolutely mind-numbing.
